FounderFlow has conducted an interview with our New Work Coach Martin Lang. In the half-hour video, he gives tips on how to promote team spirit and collaboration in remote teams.

At the invitation of the FounderFlow Podcast, Martin talks to Jonas Basten about his experiences and gives tips on how to promote collaboration and cohesion in remote teams. He discusses technology-independent ways to exchange ideas with colleagues, share emotions and experience everyday working life. Martin also reveals how he came up with the idea for bNear and what role metaphors play in his concept. An exciting interview for anyone who wants to find out more about remote working and team building; far beyond the benefits of bNear.

“How do we manage to develop the technical possibilities into a new social operating system for teams?”

The technical resources are usually available in the companies. But it's like renting a room and setting up a few desks. However, there is often a lack of will or the idea of how to develop a hybrid or remote system for daily collaboration in which teams can work together efficiently in the long term and at the same time in a healthy and fulfilling way for all members. In the physical office, companies invest a lot of money in meeting spaces such as coffee kitchens with seating, plants and a pleasant atmosphere. For remote work, far too often only MS Teams is rolled out as a technical solution and too little attention is paid to how to fill this digital world with human life, rituals and spontaneous encounters. In this interview, Martin gives suggestions for good formats, shares his experiences with customer teams from his time as a New Work and Agile Coach and promotes the sustainable and human-centered design of hybrid work.

“I have to see it as a business investment (...) to invest time and money in formats and tools to ultimately make teams perform better.”

Martin and Jonas also talk about suitable measures, from daily rituals to the design of workations and retreats, and about the importance of shared experiences for strengthening the team spirit. He provides insights into the emotional everyday life and the special events that have helped the bNear team to come closer together as a hybrid team.
